Ember
Delete your account
You can ask us to delete your Ember account and the personal data tied to it at any time. Here’s exactly how to do it, what we remove, and the few records we’re required by law to keep for a while.

How to request deletion
To ask us to delete your Ember account, send us a short email and we’ll take care of the rest:
- 1Email us at support@usecowrie.app from the email address on your Ember account.
- 2Put “Delete my account” in the subject line.
- 3Include your Ember ID if you have it handy, so we can find your account quickly.
- 4We may ask you to confirm a detail or two, so we can be sure the request is really coming from you before anything is removed.
- 5We’ll process your request and email you to confirm once it’s done, normally within 30 days.
Before you delete your account, it’s a good idea to withdraw any remaining balance, since the account and its access will be closed.
What we delete
When we action your request, we remove the personal data we hold for you, including:
- Your profile: your name, email address, and Ember ID.
- Your sign-in credentials and security settings.
- Your saved beneficiaries and app preferences.
- The devices and push notification tokens linked to your account.
- Your account balances and the link between your account and its deposit addresses.
What we keep, and for how long
Because Ember handles money, the law doesn’t let us erase everything straight away. We keep records of your transactions (deposits, withdrawals, transfers, and bill payments) to meet financial and anti-money-laundering rules. These are held for the period required by law, generally at least five years after your account is closed, and then deleted or stripped of anything that identifies you.
One thing worth knowing: activity on public blockchains is permanent by design. Any deposit or transfer that happened on-chain stays visible on the blockchain forever, and no one, including Ember, can delete or reverse it.
Questions
If you’re unsure about anything, or you want to check on a request you’ve already sent, email us at support@usecowrie.app and we’ll help. You can also read our Privacy Policy for the full picture on how we handle your data.
